Sacred Sunday |Sometimes It Takes Longer

Some days, the simplest things feel ridiculously heavy.

An email.

A form to fill out.

A small piece of work that should take thirty minutes

but stretches into three hours.

My body moves slower,

my mind resists,

and every step feels like dragging a couch through mud.

For a long time, I thought this meant I was failing.

That I was losing my smarts.

Losing drive.

Losing the version of myself who used to move faster, do more, carry everything.

Now I see something different.

Slowness isn’t failure.

It’s information. Data.

A signal.

My nervous system — wise in ways my mind is not —

is asking for a different pace now.

A pace where effort is honest.

Where energy is honoured.

Where finishing one real thing is enough.

Gone are the days of doing it all at once.

Today I worked slowly.

Uncharacteristically slowly, if I’m honest.

But the work still got done.

And instead of asking myself,

What happened to you?

I’m asking a quieter question:

What if this pace is allowed?

What if nothing needs to be forced or forged instantly?

What if the life ahead is not built on speed -- but on truth?

There is peace

in letting the day be exactly what it was.

Not impressive.

Not efficient.

Just real.

Spirit is never in the doing.

It is in the allowing.
